The Beautiful Alhambra Palace in Granada

Alhambra Palace was built in the 14th century. Today it demonstrates a magnificent example of the Moorish architecture. In Arabic the name Alhambra means the red one.

It was originally constructed for the last Muslim Emirs (commanders) in Spain and its court. After the Reconquista, some portions were overtaken by the Catholic monarchs. Some portions of the palace are divided into Muslim spaces and Catholic spaces.

Now the palace is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List attracting tourists every year. Luckily, I ventured to the site during the unlikely time, winter. There were other visitors at the palace, but it was not crowded, so we are able to wander the grounds, stopping and viewing the magnificent buildings and gardens.
