First, I decided to try and get my permesso at the Post Office; unfortunately for me I found myself extremely lost after about an hour and a half of walking. I kept asking for directions and each time I was correctly directed to a post office, just not the right one. The benefit of getting lost was that I got to see a new part of the city, the downside was that I walked for about three hours straight that morning and was exhausted by the time I finally found the central post office. To top it all of, when I arrived, they told me they were not accepting the permesso today, possibly tomorrow or the next day...oh the Italian way of life.
During my wanderings around the city that morning and afternoon I found a new outfit to celebrate my birthday. A dark green dress, black leggings and a black belt. To finish the ensemble, I added a black headband with a bow.
That evening, my friends took my out for a fabulous night on the town. My roommate, Manuel, was also able to join us and he introduced us to his friend Toby from the UK. We started at Cafe Rubik, also known as Sam's, for an apperitivo. Then we went around the corner to a restaurant for dinner, I enjoyed a pasta dish with funghi (mushrooms), very tasty. And here is the sneaky part, we went back to Sam's and they had a cake with candles for me. It was so nice of them to set all of that up for me, a big surprise too. An Italian style birthday was a great celebration for a quarter of a century.
Pictures!
