Sunday was a brief visit to the Museo Civico followed by wandering the Christmas market. Here I enjoyed a concoction of ham, potato and sour croat, yummy once again. Then home I went, it was an exhausting trip and I knew if I stayed in the markets any longer, I would buy items that I did not need!

Christmas Markets Galore!
The weekend of December 3rd was spent traveling with my classmates to Trento, Italia. The initial trip was organized so we could visit some scientific institutions and museums in the city, but it expanded to a two-day trip so we could see the Christmas markets and do a bit of exploring in both Trento and Rovereto. Both cities are in the "old-Austria" part of Italy, meaning the Austrian influence is still there.
My first dish from the region and the Christmas market was a delicious mixture of polenta and melted fondue cheese. I topped the meal off with hot apple cider and a bit of strudel. It was the perfect meal for the cold, cloudy day.
Saturday was spent visiting Museo Tridentino di Scienze Naturali and the Palazzo Roccabruna Wine and Territory Museum. The wine visit was the highlight of the trip, besides the food of course. We were able to taste the white sparkling wines the region is known for, more of a champagne type drink. I wasn't too fond of any of them, but choosing one, I would pick the Extra Brut. The day ended with about seven of us venturing to a local restaurant in Rovereto after checking into the hostel. Here I enjoyed two dishes, my main dish of polenta, mushrooms, meats and cheeses and a bit of a friend's dish of pesto pasta. Together these dishes were amazing, separately the polenta dish was a bit rich.
